1.tell us about your mix, what kind of inspiration did you find for it?
My inspiration is this autotune effect prop 3m19s
It’s a highlight of a particular time in music. Ten of fourteen songs in this mix were released between ‘99-01 during a transitional phase which was post-millennium, yet pre-piracy and mass file sharing; when ambient techno was introduced to sample-based percussion and software sequencers and the dawn of Mutek Festival and other exposition-style festivals that embodied experimental performances. This era of producers that fell under genres like glitch, click and pop, and microhouse formulated an unprecedented sound which was eventually adopted by likes of indie and pop music. Trip-hop and the birth of the sound of Télépopmusik gave leeway to music such as Britney Spears “In The Zone” which influenced the pop culture of a decade to follow.
This mix features some edits and transpositions of the original music. At 15m40s, a track titled “What’s The Name of Your Swiss Bank?” plays from my forthcoming self-titled release “Leak”
2. how long have you been producing for?
I’ve been producing for about 3 years
3. where was your most favorite party you have ever played? Why?
I organized a small show at my last apartment that felt more like an intimate listening party. Like friends sitting on the floor on a Sunday evening and really listening.
4. where would you like to play next?
Playing a live daytime event is appealing to me. It’ll likely yield a more alert audience. It makes a distinction between a party and a show. I think an artist’s presence is half the substance, and people in a club-setting usually value pleasure over performance.
5.do you have any new projects coming up?
I just finished a nine track album and the first AV is now on Youtube.
“PUBLIC” audiovisual

Residency // Cole Evelev
Yay our second Residency. This week we bring you a very fresh mix from Cole Evelev. Cole has thrown a couple guest mixes down for the Terry crew and we always love what tunes he's droppin. We love the pic also, which his grandpa took. How about that.
1. Tell us about your mix, what kind of inspiration did you find for it?
First off, hello Terry Radio fam! Thanks for making Terry one of the best underground internet radio stations in the world! The inspiration for this mix comes from all the talented selectors, listeners, diggers and dj’s in the Terry network. It’s amazing how the station represents deejays from Texas, Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Berlin, Montreal and of course Kansas City.
2. Where did you record your mix? City, State, Bedroom?
I recorded this mix at the apartment I share with my girlfriend Nina Bower Crooke, we live in Hells Kitchen, NYC. The apartment was once my grandmothers. She was an incredible photographer and one of the first Female photogs on staff at Vogue. A painting by Alexander Lieberman, former Creative Director of Vogue, hangs right above our little home setup. It’s a fantastic, and minimal, piece from what I believe are his best years. I get a ton of joy and inspiration from its presence in our living room.
3. Whats your favorite time of the day? Or favorite time in general?
Well it is situational but in NYC it would have to be right when the sun comes up. The whole city is bustling, but honestly there’s no tourists, shoppers, businessmen or any of that. Just the workers who really make the city tick and you. That’s a special time in the city and probably my favorite.
4. Best place to party?
Honestly I think the best place to party is where ever your friends are. I have had terrible experiences at great clubs and great times at terrible clubs. It just depends on the situation.
One time a bunch of us went to a Body and Soul (A legendary New York party where Joe Claussell, Danny Krivit and Francoise K play b2b2b). If you don’t know Pascha it’s this giant multi story Mega Club in Manhattan.
I grew up in NYC and during high school I was really into BMXing and spent most of time riding my bike, going to DIY/all ages venues or partying in friend’s apartments when their parents were out of town.
During that time, I formed these condescending ideas about clubs in New York. I think it may have had something to do with being scared of rejection or not having as much expendable income as some the kids who would go out to clubs at that time. Anyway, Pascha was on the list of places I had convinced myself I was better then. I kind of thought it was going to be home to crazy expensive drinks, bridge and tunnel jokers and bad vibes. That night a bunch of us sectioned off a spot right in front of the DJ booth. We danced there all night and honestly I had one of the best times in recent memory and that was over a year ago.
5. What’s your favorite vegetable?
Garlic, I can’t cook without it. Also shout out to the dude who suggested this answer, pretty tricky question. Strong support network in NY.
6. Do you have any new projects coming up?
I don’t produce so in that sense no. I do have a batch of photos from last year’s Sustain that I need to put up though. Been sitting on those for far too long…
7. Where was the first place you ever dj’d?
I was really into music in high school and I had a bunch of friends who were pushing me to DJ. I was always a bit of an outsider and I tended to alienate myself. Growing up in NYC all my friends listened to Rap. They were all die hard Cam’ron fans, he was the superstar and to this day I am super fond of Camron partly because of that. But I found myself listening to other styles of music outside of my direct social scene and I wasn’t sure how that would come across.
My dad had a huge influence on me, at the time he was really interested in Brazilian music. We had just gone to Brazil together to visit all these musicians, it was really a wild trip. At the time he was putting me on to the Os Mutantes, Caetano and his son Moreno Veloso and some of the Baile Funk stuff like DJ Marlboro. He was also showing me African groups like Orchestre Poly-Rythmo so that was obviously a huge influence on me. I myself was really into electronic music. I remember buying Skatebård tracks on Itunes when it was my main venue for finding and purchasing music.
I wasn’t confident in that stuff transitioning into my social life so I really didn’t start deejay-ing until I went to Oberlin College and I found myself apart of 91.5 FM WOBC. It was a super welcoming Community and College Radio Station. I ran the Traffic or Incoming music department, I think mainly because I liked opening packages and sorting the promos into genre bins, most of it was shit though. My good friend Will DiMaggio used to hold down Electronic Department and we had consecutive shows on Thursday Nights. It was a blast.
8. How often do you wash your hair?
Probably enough.
9 . Have you ever been stung by a bee?
No I don’t think I have. I am actually super scared of them now because of it. But yo if your ever on Youtube this dude Ben Stinga from Perth, Australia runs one of the best channels. https://www.youtube.com/user/ben2976 If you don’t know now you know.
10. What is something you would like people to know about you?
Who knows. Instead how about we use this space to shout out all the homies. Respect to the Dustcart, Will, Carl, Ryan, Jenny, Wyeth, my cousin Becca, Rory, Kelsey, Grant, Anthony, Kristin, Ashlyn, Tanya, BP, Bean, Brandon, Jaclyn, the Geesemen (especially John who I haven’t met yet), Cal, E_Dalton, Gene Tellem & Kris Guilty(Who both rocked my world last month), The Perth connection(Beth, Katy, Hamish and Sheridan) Chris and Tor, Miles, Alejandra, All the promoters doing the most with the least, all the uploaders, The Terry Crew for keeping the station live, any one I forgot and of course my girlfriend Nina. 🙂

We are so excited to start the new Residency series with him. His mix provides that deep tension we all need when it's the middle of summer and 100 degrees outside. We hope you enjoy. <3
